We use a bank-run game where the two pure-strategy equilibria can be ranked by payoff and riskdominance and a sequence of public announcements introduces stochastic sunspot equilibria. We find systematic group-size effects that theory fails to predict. When the payoff-dominant strategy is risky enough, the behavior of small groups is uninformative of the behavior in large groups: unlike ‘smaller’ groups of size 10, larger groups exclusively coordinate on the Pareto inferior strategy and never coordinate on sunspots. <p><p>Data and code for peer-reviewed article published in American Economic Journal: Microeconomics.$$7Abstract 000001680 540__ $$aCreative Commons Public Domain Mark 1.0 Universal$$uhttps://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/$$fCC-PDM-1.0 000001680 7001_ $$aArifovic, Jasmina$$7Personal$$uSimon Fraser University 000001680 7001_ $$aHommes, Cars$$7Personal$$uBank of Canada$$3https://ror.org/05cc98565$$5ROR 000001680 7001_ $$aKopányi-Peuker, Anita$$7Personal$$uRadboud Universiteit Nijmegen 000001680 7001_ $$aSalle, Isabelle$$7Personal$$uUniversity of Ottawa 000001680 791__ $$aJournalArticle$$iReproducibility package is associated with peer-reviewed article$$w10.1257/mic.20200290$$c2023$$dAmerican Economic Journal: Microeconomics (American Economic Association)$$tTen Isn’t Large!
